Alma Jane DeBord, age 82, of Knoxville, Tenn., departed this life on Sept. 24, 2026, at her home.
LIFE
Born May 15, 1944, in Pikeville, Ky., Alma was the daughter of Marcum and Ruth Davis.

Linda King, 85
Winfield

Linda L. Stanley King, age 85, of Winfield, departed this life on Sept. 24, 2026, at her home.
LIFE
Born Dec. 8, 1940, Linda was the daughter of Ben and Maudie Mae Reed Stanley. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Winfield.

Betty Boles, 89
September 3, 1937 – September 26, 2026
Betty Lou Medling Boles, age 89, departed this life on Sept. 26, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
LIFE
Born Sept. 3, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., Betty was the daughter of Lera Edna Wilson Medling and William Paul Medling. Betty is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom she sang about all of these years. She was a devoted, loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her had their life enriched. She always had a kind word and smile. She was always willing to share with anyone she met about the Lord Jesus Christ.
She graduated from Tooley High School in Chicago, Ill. She was saved at an early age. She was a member of the church and choir at Second Baptist Church of Chicago and later a member and choir member at Bethel Baptist Church in Schaumburg, Ill. She was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Helenwood.

Gail Shoopman, 68
November 25, 1957 – September 22, 2026
Gail Shoopman, age 68, departed this life peacefully on Sept. 22, 2026, at her home.
LIFE
Born Nov. 25, 1957, at Scott County Hospital, Gail was saved at an early age at Smokey Creek Baptist Church and was baptized at the Smokey Creek baptizing hole. She was a loving daughter and loved all her family. She never had any children of her own, but God blessed her to be a mother figure to the children in her family and the children she babysat. Her nieces and nephews looked at her as a mother figure. They deeply loved her and called her “Sissy Gail.”
Gail was always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in her family or any friend or neighbor who needed help. She worked at Tobe’s Restaurant for more than 20 years and was known as an excellent cook. Gail was also known as an excellent babysitter for many children in her home for many years and treated each child as if they were her own with true love. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her and to eat some of her country cooking.

Martha Kidd, 78
December 16, 1947 – September 23, 2026
Martha Sue Kidd, age 78, passed from her earthly home on Sept. 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
LIFE
Born Dec. 16, 1947, in Glasgow, Ky., Martha was the daughter of Ray and Jeanetta Kingery. She grew up in Indianapolis, where she met and married Kelly Kidd. During their years in Indiana, Martha worked at JennAir while Kelly worked at Chrysler. After moving to Oneida, Martha devoted herself to being a homemaker, and Kelly began his career as a semi-truck driver. Martha’s home was a place where people were always welcomed, and she especially loved preparing meals for family and friends. Martha was an exceptional cook, and she had a special gift for making people feel at home and cared for.
She overcame her first battle with cancer the same year Kelly passed away from lung cancer. Six years later, after another courageous battle with cancer, Martha passed from this earthly home and entered her eternal home, where there is no sickness, no sorrow, and no goodbyes. Through her profession of faith, we can find comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the presence of our Lord and Savior. While she cannot return to us, we can be reunited with her through God’s gift of grace and His plan of salvation.
