Terri Lynn Strunk Doran passed away on Aug. 30, 2026, at her home in Winfield.
LIFE
Born Feb. 13, 1963, Terri was the daughter of Tommy Strunk, Rita Owens, and Helen Chitwood Tebault.

• Grandparents: Ralph Strunk and Velma Woods, and Tom and Stella Bray.
• Brothers: Michael Strunk and Nick Crabtree.

November 1, 1967 – 2026
Ricky Gibson, age 58, departed this life peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
LIFE
Born Nov. 1, 1967, Ricky was the son of Gather and Helen Davis Gibson. He worked in the log woods all his life, enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family and watching westerns.

Born July 17, 1962, John was the son of the late Ronald Judy and Rotella Marcum.

Susan Slaven, 71
Oneida
November 1, 1954 – August 29, 2026
Susan Marie Slaven, age 71, of Oneida, Tenn., passed away suddenly on Aug. 29, 2026, at the Big South Fork Medical Center.
LIFE
Born Nov. 1, 1954, Susan was the daughter of James and Imogene Burchfield. She was a member of New Life Tabernacle in Huntsville. God gave Susan a servant’s heart and she worked to fill that role completely. If you came to her home, she was asking if you were hungry. If there wasn’t something on the stove, she would cook something for you. Susan loved to cook and bake for her family, neighbors, and church family. She spent much of her time preparing food for church functions and fund raisers. If there was a need in the family or the community, Susie was one of the first ones to help.
Susie adored children. She raised her own children and helped to raise all the others in the family and in the community. “Aunt Sue Sue” could be depended on if an emergency babysitter was needed. It didn’t take long for her children’s friends to call her “Granna” just like the relatives did. She loved and guided them all. In recent years much of her time was spent watching the birds eat from the feeders and plants on her front porch and watching their cat Kif try to catch those birds! Susan loved God most of all. She taught us to always speak “life” and to keep pressing on, especially when life got hard.

Joan Terry, 69
Oneida
September 6, 1956 – August 31, 2026
Carolyn ‘Joan’ Foster Terry, age 69 of Oneida, passed away on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
LIFE
Born Sept. 6, 1956, Joan was the daughter of the late James (Jay) and Ruth Ellis Foster. Joan was a member of the Grave Hill United Baptist Church. Joan had a servant’s heart and for over 30 years, she faithfully served generations of students through the Oneida Schools Cafeteria. Above all, Joan’s greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life and she was proud of each one of them. Joan also held her church family close to her heart and was grateful for their love and fellowship. She especially cherished the friendship with her “sister” Doris Boyatt.
