Clinton, Ind.
June 23, 1935 – October 17, 2026
Pauline Terry, age 91, of Clinton, Ind., passed away Oct. 17, 2026.
LIFE
Born June 23, 1935, in Oneida, Pauline was the daughter of Frank and Marie Ellen Marcum. She spent much of her youth in and around the mountains of what is now the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, a place she always considered home. She married Grover Terry on Dec. 29, 1952, and graduated from Oneida High School in 1954. Grover worked for Muncie Tree Service, and the two traveled across Indiana for his job. One of those jobs brought them through Clinton, and they liked the town so much that when it came time for their son to be born, they decided to make it their permanent home. Pauline went on to graduate from Harold’s Beauty Academy and opened Pauline’s Beauty Shop in her home. She loved doing hair and treasured the friendships she built with the people who sat in her chair. Many people have fond memories of holding her grandsons while they talked in her shop.
Pauline was a longtime member of Clinton First Baptist Church. She loved to bowl and belonged to several leagues around town. She was also a familiar helper in the community, working the election polls, pitching in at fish fries, and serving food at community dinners. Pauline was a familiar face in the stands at South Vermillion sporting events, watching the teams her son Tim coached and her grandsons played on. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed beyond words, but her family finds peace in knowing she and Grover are together again in Heaven.
